How To Test Your Inform Connect Integration
Quick Start Testing Guide
This testing guide is meant to guide Inform Data Source Partners on how to test connecting, authorizing access, and posting data as part of building their integration to the Inform Connect APIs.
This guide is for Inform Data Source Partners.
If you are a Validic Inform Client and you are looking for more information on how to use the Inform APIs to retrieve your end users' data, please review the Inform API Quick Start Guide instead of this one.
If you would like to review our documentation for how our Clients will be retrieving the data that you are posting to Inform, you can find our client-facing API guide here: https://helpdocs.validic.com/docs/accessing-data
Getting Started
To test your Connect API integration, you will need to act as both a Validic Client Organization and a Data Source. You will be performing all 5 steps of Connecting Users to Inform Connect in the Inform Connect Developer Guide.
Once your integration is live in production, you will solely serve as the Data Source. Validic Client Organizations will connect to you.
Meaning, once live, steps 1 and 2 of Connecting Users to Inform Connect are performed by Validic Client Organizations and you, as the Data Source, are responsible for steps 3 - 5 of the process.
This testing guide gives you the basic information you’ll need in order to make use of the code examples in the Inform Connect Developer Guide.
You Will Need
- A user account created at your Data Source that you will use to generate test data records
- A way to generate test records for submission to Inform Connect
-
Testing User Connections
To test steps 1 and 2 of the Inform Connect Developer Guide, you have been set up with a testing organization for you. Please refer to your Connect intro email for the details of the test organization and users.
We recommend testing your integration with at least one demo/test user in your system. If you do not already have a few test users set up with test data at the Data Source, you must set up a few so that you have a variety of data records to submit to Inform to confirm your integration is working.

Next Steps
As a next step, please reach out to your Inform Connect contact once you have successfully connected your first test user and posted at least one data record. We will check our server logs and confirm that everything is working as expected.
If this is all 🤷♂️ for you, try starting at the top of our Inform Connect Developer Guide or reach out to your Inform Connect contact.
